  Amaryllis now has 3 full blooms. It is gorgeous!  Thanks Kathy Varnell for the Christmas bulb! Wiggle tail, the cat, waiting to be fed on a cold, snowy morning. By Saturday afternoon the four-inches of snow was melted at our house, but it had stayed cold on Mt. Bolivar.

Forgot to post this pic of Mt. Bolivar at the south end of Scott Valley. Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 20-22, it snowed in Scott Valley and left fresh snow on Bolivar again.  Sometime soon, we hope it will stop freezing at night so we can plant our gardens and they will grow!

A smattering of snow found upon rising in the early morning had melted by afternoon, in Callahan, California, but Mt. Bolivar still boasted a cap of the white stuff.  Bolivar hovers over the little hamlet of Callahan and almost feels like a protector.

Cooled down yesterday afternoon and it must have spitted snow all night as we woke to this skiff of snow.  Nothing deep like Mt. Shasta has, which is less than 20 miles away as the crow flies. A week ago, it was hovering below 10 degrees in the early a.m.  Today, Dec. 16, 2009 my thermometer said 38 degrees.  It has sprinkled after raining some yesterday and ice is thawing. Amazing how much weather can change in just one week! This was taken 100 feet or so from my back door.
